[Product Comparison] Lacura - Daily Cleansing Pads & Nip+Fab - Glycolic Fix Night Pads

by - May 21, 2018

Hey Guys! ✨
Today i'm comparing two products i've had for nearly a month now, which are the:

Lacura - Daily Cleansing Pads
Nip+Fab - Glycolic Fix Night Pads

I near enough bought these products next to each other (I picked up the Lacura Pads the day after the Nip+Fab pads) I could't believe the price difference between them too! (The Lacura £2.49 from Aldi and the Nip+Fab £4.99 from TK maxx) I decided to try out both and see what they're like!

Starting off with the Nip+Fab product, This is a simple plastic tub with a screw top lid. On the front of the tub it states the title, what the product is and a short brief description of what it is/does:

"Super-strength acid exfoliating facial pads to target oily + congested skin"

This is a tub of 60 pads.

On the right side of the tub is features the three main ingredients, plus a description of each:

5% Glycolic Acid:
Solution aids natural skin exfoliation + refines skin's texture.

Salicylic Acid:
Helps unclog congested pores.

Lactic Acid:
Gently weakens the bonds holding dead skin cells together.

On the bottom of the tub, it has a slightly longer description of the product:

"Our original glycol fix taken to the extreme! A Concentrated acid blend of AHAs + BHAs help to improve the skins natural exfoliation process + decongest dull skin with one pre-soaked pad. Pores appear more refined + the complexion brighter to rival results of an acid peel"

Below are the directions for the product:

"Wipe one pad across face, neck + dècolleté after cleansing. Avoiding the eye area. Use two to three times a week at night, for sensitive skin use once a week"

If you lift up the sticker, it also gives you the list of ingredients for this product, which are:

"Aqua(Water/Eau), Glycolic Acid, Triethanolamine, Glycerin, Polysorbate 20, Niacimide, Phenoxyethanol, Sodium Hydroxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Mandelic Acid, Panthenol, Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Limonene, Perfume (Fragrance), Benzyl Benzoate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Geraniol, Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Citral, Linalool'

Next up is the Lacura Daily cleaning pads, These come in the exact same plastic tub with a screw top lid. However the labelling is different (for obvious reasons haha!) Lacura is Aldi's own brand. On the front of the tub it has the brand title, what the product is, and a bullet point format brief description of what the product is/does:

- Exfoliating Facial Pads to improve skin texture and tone.
- For a brighter & more radiant complexion.

This product contains 60 pads.

All the information can be found on the left side of the tub. This includes a more detailed description of the product:

"Aldi Glycolic Daily Cleansing pads are formulated with glycol acid, a powerful Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) and fruit acid blend. These radiance boosting pads help retexture and resurface skin to reveal a brighter and smoother looking complexion"

Directions for use:
Wipe pad across cleansed face, neck and dècolleté once or twice daily. Avoid the delicate eye area.

Ingredients for this product are as follows:
"Aqua, glycol acid, glycerin, vaccininum myrtillus fruit extract, saccharum officinarum (sugar cane) extract, acer saccharum (sugar maple) extract, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange) friut extract, citrus limon (lemon) fruit extract, parfum, aloe barbadensis leaf juice, hamamelis virginiana water, panthenol, polysorbate 20, sodium gluconate, sodium citrate, citric acid, phenoxyethanol, dehydroacetic acid, benzoic acid"

One thing to note is that the % of glycolic acid is not mentioned on the Lacura version.

When you open both products up, they pretty much look identical. Even though both have a perfumed smell, the Lacura one smells like acidic sweets? and the Nip+Fab smells just like oranges haha! I found the Nip+Fab to have a stronger smell than it's Lacura counterpart.

If you took the labels off the tubs, i'm pretty convinced you wouldn't be able to tell the two apart, besides the smell of each.

Both pads (this being the Lacura brand above) have a textured side and a smooth side. I would recommend using the textured side first to sweep across the skin, and then the smooth side to finish off.

The Nip+Fab pads are also the exact same as the Lacura Pads, they also feature a smooth and textured side. However the fragrance and their performance do set the two apart.

Below are two sections comparing the two products!

Lacura

- Smell is somewhat like a sweet "acidic" scent, not overwhelming though, is noticeable but goes away quickly once you open the tub.

- Pads are identical to the Nip+Fab

- When I used this product for the very first time, there was a very mild slight stinging sensation. It went away very quickly. It was also quite easy to get used to since after the second and even after the third time, it just felt like I was wiping a wet pad across my face.

- I didn't see much difference after consistent use morning and night (as you can use it both AM and PM if you wanted), really I think it made my skin worse since i've currently been suffering a breakout after using it 🤔 not sure if it's to blame or is a contributing factor. But they didn't exactly exfoliate my skin.

- If you're on a budget I found this product to be value for money. At only £2.49 you really can't complain at the price!

- Even though the ingredients state there's Glycolic Acid in this product, the actual percentage of it isn't specified.

- Unlike the Nip+Fab pads, these can be used daily, both AM and PM

- The ingredients for these products do differ, the Lacura brand includes more fruit extracts than it's counterpart.

- However this product isn't widely available like the Nip+Fab product, as it's sold in Aldi, there stock and products continuously change so whether or not these will return is uncertain. However they have been available from there on more than one occasion i've found based on other peoples testimonies.

Nip+Fab

- Out of the two products, the Nip+Fab pads had the strongest scent. However it was the more pleasant of the two as I would describe the scent of this product being similar to oranges!

- These pads are identical to the Lacura pads.

- When I used these for the first time (I had used these once before I tried the Lacura Pads) there was a slight stinging sensation (more than what I experienced with the Lacura ones) however prior to this I hadn't used Glycolic Acid products, so I suppose it was to be expected haha! The sensation does wear off quickly and overtime the stinging becomes less and less. It did leave me skin feeling somewhat cleansed and refreshed and I felt it helped my other skincare products absorb better.

- With consistent use (I used this product about 3 times a week) I did notice that it did somewhat help to clear my skin, however only slightly. I'll continue to use it and if a more significant result shows, i'll update this post.

- Compared to the Lacura pads, these are somewhat expensive, it retails at £14.95 at the Nip+Fab website, but can be bought for £4.99 (if I remember correctly) at TK Maxx! so if you see them, snap them up!

- Unlike the Lacura Pads where the % of Glycolic Acid isn't specified, the % in this product is 5%.

- The ingredients differ between the two, the lacura product focuses more on fruit extracts while this product includes Salicylic Acid (which is a recommend ingredient for fighting acne) and Lactic Acid.

- Is recommend to be used 2-3 times a week (1 for sensitive skin), so not as frequently as the Lacura pads can be used.

- Unlike Aldis Laura brand, this Nip+Fab product is easy to acquire and widely available online and in shops.

Overall, based on my experience of using both of these products, I prefer the Nip+Fab pads. Compared to the Lacura pads, the Nip+Fab had more of a noticeable impact on my skin, and I didn't break out whilst using them. The smell is also much more pleasant than the Lacura pads and will probably last longer if used 2-3 times a week as opposed to everyday like the Lacura pads. But! if you're new to acids and just want to try these out, and you're on a budget. Then perhaps the Aldi Lacura pads are a better option for you. Just be sure to wear SPF if you're using these products as they can make you skin more sensitive to sunlight!

Where to Purchase:

Can be purchased here for £14.95 ($20.05 approx converted)

Lacura Pads are currently sold out online, it's unclear whether the product is still instores :/
