Hey Guys! ✨

Today i'm reviewing:
Danielle Creations - Anti-Wrinkle Collagen & Lavander Eye Masks!
I found these in TK Maxx whilst in Dundrum, Ireland when I was last over, and I couldn't get over how cheap they were! if I remember correctly they were about €3.99 or €4.99. And for 6 pairs of hydrogel eye masks that's a pretty good deal! but are they any good? 🤔

TK Maxx can sell products from brands that i've never heard of, and i'd never heard of "Danielle creations". However it turns out they're a British company, established over 30 years ago that focuses on beauty and lifestyle products! ranging from beauty bags to face masks.

What are Eye Masks/Patches?
Eye masks/patches are essentially sheet masks for under your eyes. The same way sheet masks can moisturise and brighten your face, eye masks can do the same! Many are designed to tackle dark circles, wrinkles and puffiness.

So you'll receive the eye masks in a box (as shown above), I purchased two different variants which were the "Collagen & Cumber" set and this one with "Collagen & Lavender". Each box is coloured differently and have slightly different purposes (the cucumber one is to combat puffiness and this one mainly combats under eye wrinkles)
These eye masks in particular claim to:

"Infused with Lavender Extract to help improve elasticity and smooth fine lines and wrinkles under the eye area.
These hydrogel patches are infused with beneficial essence to nourish, moisturise, soothe, brighten and firm. The soft gel-like texture adheres gently to the delicate under eye area and delivers intensive treatment to the skin"

To use these patches, you should apply them to clean dry skin directly under the eyes. Leave for 20 - 30 minutes and discard.

The Listed ingredients on the back are:
"Aqua/Water/Eau, Sorbitan Stearate, Paraffinum Liquidum, Glycerin, Dimethicone, Cetearyl Alcohol, Isopropyl Palmitate, Propylene Glycol, Hydrolyzed Collagen, Phenoxyethanol, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavander) Extract"

So when you take a pack out the box they come like so, the eye masks are in sets of two and all vacuumed sealed. With a clear side so you can see the eye masks themselves, and a silver foil side, the side which you peel off the foil.

So I was actually surprised that these were gold coloured! The box packaging does have gold foil on it, but a part of me didn't actually expect it to extend to the product itself! especially since any gold eye masks i've seen have been more expensive than regular ones. One thing I noticed by looking at the packaging is that the masks are quite saturated in serum.

To open you should find a corner loose, and all you need to do is pull!

However I had exceptional difficulty opening this packet, the foil is so tightly vacuumed to the plastic it took a ridiculous amount of effort to pull it away and get to the eye masks. I also had to be careful which direction I pulled since I didn't want the serum getting everywhere and/or the masks falling out.

Eventually I gave up with pulling away the last quarter since I was able to get to the masks. Upon pulling them out the packaging, like I mentioned, they are saturated in serum. More than I expected really, at least you get your moneys worth I suppose! The eye masks are gel so they're thin, light weight, soft and quite flimsy. There is no perfumed smell with these eye masks and the serum itself is also basically the same consistency as water as show below:

Because of these factors though, after I applied the eye masks under my eyes (because of the amount of excess serum) gravity did it's thing and they started to slide down ever so slowly. So naturally I had to keep sliding them up again haha! a tad bit annoying since I can't really relax when somethings sliding down my face half the time and i'm constantly having to readjust ðŸ˜©

I placed the eye masks under my eyes for the stated time on the packaging (which was between 20 - 25 minutes) they were easy to remove since you can either peel them off or they can slide off haha! i'd kept these in the fridge for a bit beforehand so the cooling sensation was appreciated. Plus I noticed that under my eyes felt more smoother and not as puffy which was a huge plus. I've usually used the cheaper versions of these gel masks (such as the fabric ones in Primark for example) and with these gel ones in particular the experience was much more satisfactory. However, I still prefer "Secret Keys Gold Racoony Hydrogel patches" since you get more for your money, they aren't saturated in serum so cling to you face as needed and aren't big and chunky like these gel eye masks. Since I found the texture of these eye masks oddly, rather cringey? haha! 😵

I always tend to look at the first few ingredients of products (usually about the first four) to see whether they're good for my skin or not, and the first four (not including Aqua) are relatively considered good for the skin!

Sorbitan Stearate:
Sorbitan Stearate belongs to the category of thickeners and emulsifiers, since it's main benefit is to thicken and stabilise cosmetic ingredients like oil and water.

Paraffinum Liquidum:
Paraffinum Liquidum is the latin name for liquid paraffin, which is mineral oil. This is acceptable to be on lists of cosmetic ingredients however it should ideally be followed by (Mineral Oil) so you're aware.

Glycerin:
Also called Glycerol or Glycerine, Gylcerin is a skin replenishing and restoring ingredient, helping to restore normal skin balance and hydration. It's also one of the many substances that helps the skin maintain a healthy look and feel, working to maintain the skins natural moisture level and defending against skin dryness.

Dimethicone:
Dimethicone is a silicone-based polymer. Or put simply, it's a silicone oil with certain properties that make it quite popular in skin care products. It's fluid properties helps improve the texture of skin since it fills in pores/fine lines leaving skin smooth and softened.

So based on my personal experience, here are my Pros and Cons:

Pros:

Affordable:
A Pack of 6 cost me €3.99 or €4.99 which is (to me) a very good deal for these gel eye patches. Even buying them from Danielle Creations direct they're just £4.99. So if you want to try gel eye masks and you're doing beauty on a budget, these may be something to consider!

Easy to apply:
Simply take out the plastic packaging and apply to under your eyes! Easily removed too and the serum absorbs fast enough afterwards with or without the need to pat your skin for absorption.

❤

Cons:

Packaging:
As previously mentioned, peeling the sliver foil side of the patches is actually extremely difficult. I feel bit odd describing it as such since it really shouldn't be the case...but I really did have a work out trying to peel away that silver foil. So it's not exactly convenient and really a lot of effort, when putting eye masks on should be an easy pleasant process.

Heavily Saturated:
The products themselves are really heavily soaked in serum so I got the majority of the product all over my fingers while trying to take each patch out from it's packaging.
Once on my face they did slide down a lot and quite quickly which should give you an idea of how saturated they are. Not a concern if you're lying back however, but if you tend to sit up like myself (particularly in bed)....it's a tad bit inconvenient.

Overall, I would repurchase these since the price is too good not too. And even for gel eye masks they're so much more cheaper compared to established brand names like Skyn Iceland. Like I mentioned, if you want to try gel eye masks but aren't keen on paying some of the more expensive prices, these are definitely worth having a look at. Plus, using gel eye masks even once a week can help the area under your eyes a great deal!

❤

Where to Purchase:

Pop into your local TK Maxx! I expect these to be around £4.99 here in the UK!

Danielle Creations.com
Can be purchased for the Danielle Creations website for £4.99, however as of today they're currently out of stock.

Amazon.com
Currently just the Non-Gold Lavander version which I can see priced at $10.44 (£7.59 converted)

Hey Guys! 💫
Hope you're all well!
Today i'll be reviewing:
Zymogens - Houttuynia Cordata Ferment Spot Cream!
I'd never heard of Zymogen until I purchased this product on a skincare haul whim a few months ago, and it seems that there's not much information that can be found about this brand. However, from what I have found it appears that Zymogen as a company have a strong focus on fermentation and how it benefits the skin.

The majority of Zymogen products are actually fermented. What is fermentation you say? well lemme tell you!

Fermentation:
Fermentation is the chemical breakdown of a substance by bacteria, yeast and other microorganisms. And in terms of skincare products, by adding microorganisms and bacteria to natural ingredients, the microorganisms over time will break down the molecules in the raw material and will create a new substance that will benefit your skin.
Over time the product will naturally form amino acids, vitamins and antioxidants thanks to this fermentation process!

Amino acids help to combat fine lines since Creatine (formed from the amino acids carnitine and arginine) plays a large role in the production of collagen, and collagen is the protein that keeps your skin fresh and firm!
Antioxidants on the other hand help combat the production of free-radicals which can damage skin cells, and can reduce the signs of ageing.

So you'll receive the spot cream in a box as shown above. The front of the box displays a brief into of what "Houttuynia Cordata Thuberg Fermet" is which is a follows:

"Houttuynia Cordata Thuberg, which is the extracts for the traditional Korean Medicine based cosmetics care are contained to mitigate skin and to minimise sebum"

That partnered with the fact that it has a red 'spot cream" sticker placed on top of the box should inform you that this cream has a very particular purpose. Which is to prevent oily skin due to sebum and skin troubles, and to leave skin refreshed and soothed due to it's natural ingredients. So it's perfect for those of you who have Oily skin or suffer from an Oily T-Zone like myself!

The back of the box has more information about the benefits of fermentation in products in Korean, the right side has some cautionary information regarding what to do should you have an adverse reaction (which is to stop using the product immediately and consult your dermatologist), not to store it in direct sunlight and not to use on areas with eczema and dermatitis.

The left side of the box lists the ingredients which are as follows:
(I translated this with google translate so pardon any discrepancies!)

"Purified water Bucholgulikol, Squalane, Zinc Oxide, Hydrogenated polysubuntile, cetearyl alcohol, ethanol glyceryl stearate polysorbate 60, bacillus/Horsetail extract fermentation filtration diol phage-100 stearate, Cyclomethicone, dimethicone phenoxyethanol, sorbitan sesquioleate, cetearyl glucoside, sodium acrylate/sodium arcryloyldimenthyltaurate copolymer, disodium edetate. Polysorbate 80, Tea Tea leaf oil lactobacillus/ golden extract fermentation filtrate spices, painted tree flower extracts, aspergillus/yeast/rice, fermented water extracts of isohexadecane, zanthan gum, beads wax dimethylsupobacillus fermented filtrate "licorice extract tetrasodium pyrophosphate sorbitan oleate ethylhexyl glycerin"

When you take the product out the packaging you'll receive it like so! (please excuse the grease marks around the labelling, that's me handling it with moisturiser on my hands haha!😆) it's a 50ml jar and on the front it'll have the title of the product with a small description of what "Houttuynia Cordata Thunberg" is (this is also printed on the front of the box as previously mentioned)

On the back it states how to use the product and information on the manufacturer and supplier, as well as the country on origin. The instructions translated (thank you Google Translate, however reworded by myself so it makes some sense) are:

How to Use:

Use the fermented product on trouble areas including T-Zone or areas with excessive sebum secretion, so that sebum is controlled. Please use it partially.

Upon unscrewing the cap you'll see that it comes with a little plastic protector lid, the black lid itself is plastic, but the rest of the product (well I definitely have reason to believe) is glass. So a little on the heavy side but nothing compared to the "Royal Essential - Charcoal Mask" I previously reviewed which weighed a considerable amount.

Looking at the product itself you'll see that it's a nice bright white colour, and you'll also notice the smell immediately. I would best describe the smell as a medicinal herby smell, but since it is made from fermented plants it shouldn't be a surprise. The consistency of the cream is quite thick, i'd probably compare it to the consistency of margarine!

You don't really need much since you can spread it across a large area easily, however that said the product itself taking a bit of rubbing to spread it out due to it's thick consistency. It'll also leave a white powdery residue, however as you continue to spread and rub in the cream this soon disappears, almost immediately. It's starts out rather thick and matte, but once you've spread it out you'll notice its more moisturising features.

Not sure if you can tell, however the product does leave my skin slightly moisturised (however not too much) since it leaves a very light sheen. Which I liked since it doesn't make my troubled areas look oily but gives my T-Zone the right amount of hydration without saturating the area. However, since this cream has a specific purpose (for oily areas/spots) I wouldn't recommend this cream to be used on other areas of the face (unless you suffer from oily skin), since it may have a drying effect as it's not a moisturiser and is designed to mitigate the production of sebum and oils to prevent/control breakouts.

I use this cream mainly on my chin and forehead since these are the areas where spots occur for me. I actually forgot I had this cream for a while since I plopped it in my beauty draw (since I had nowhere to place it on my desk) and realised I should probably start using it before it expires (it has a 3 year lifespan thankfully). I've used it every morning and every night since! wished I'd started using it sooner since I've rarely had spots whilst using it, and when I have it's mostly due to other external factors (work stress, you know the deal). However when I have had spots it does help to calm and soothe them, and help clear them up quicker due to the fermented ingredients contained within.

If you have oily skin, suffer from Acne or have any oily areas like T-zone's, I do recommend you try this product since it's one of my routine staples and I haven't regretted it since! When it comes to particular products that claim to help prevent spots/treat spots i'm always a bit skeptical, however this cream (for me) does what it says on the jar!

So based off my personal experience, here are my main pros and cons! (even though I struggled to come up with any legitimate cons 😅)

Pros:

Absorbs Quickly:
I found that this product absorbed really quickly when applied to my skin, so you're not stood there rubbing and patting away waiting for it to sink in. I found this a bonus particularly if you're in a rush since you don't have to wait till the product is absorbed to move on! Plus a little goes a long way with this product, you only need a bit to do the job so it'll last a while!

Non Greasy:
This is more of a "Matte" formula if I had to describe it, and it's not at all greasy. Because of this it helps to combat excess oils and sebum whilst not being drying but providing enough moisture to soothe and nourish the skin.

❤

Cons

Sight Perfumed Smell:
It does have a slight herby/medicial smell. However I didn't find it bothersome, plus i'm so used to the product now I don't even notice a smell! If you're not keen on any type of perfumed product this may not be for you. However, if you can get past that part, it is worth trying if you suffer from Acne, oily skin and particular oily areas like T-Zones.

Has a Specific Purpose:
Because of the type of cream this is, I wouldn't really recommend using it as a full on face cream and on areas of skin that aren't oily. It is moisturising to an extent (but only ever so slightly) but I feel it may dry out non oily areas unnecessarily, since the ingredients are designed to mitigate sebum and oil production.

Overall this is definitely a repurchase, plus this brand of fermented skincare has really got me curious to try other fermented products by Zymogen! I definitely recommend this product to those of you that suffer from Acne, Oily Skin/ Oily T-Zones since the Houttuynia Cordata plant has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties! If you give this a try, I hope it works well for you!

Hi Guys! ✨

The next product i'll be reviewing is:
Royal Essential - Charcoal Facial Masque!
This is the first charcoal facial mask i've used (that isn't the peel off type, and speaking of peel, I don't recommend Daiso's Charcoal Peel Off Mask to be used on your cheeks by the way) and It was quite a refreshing experience! I'm particularly enjoying these types of charcoal masks since they're easy to apply and are particularly great from my Oily T-Zone!

I've never heard of this brand before and found this at my local TK Maxx, after a quick google search it's actually an American product by Home Spa Collection. So an interesting find here in the UK indeed! (at least I think so haha! 😆)

What are Facial Masks?
Facial masks are great to introduce into your skin routine as they're designed to help you with your skin concerns. Taking place after cleansing, facial masks treat your particular skin type or condition and can help by hydrating your skin, remove excess oils and help improve the appearance of pores. They're also a great way to help draw out the impurities from your skin leaving it refreshed and glowy!

So I basically purchased the product as shown, so it was definitely a "what you see is what you get" with this one. I imagine if you ordered it online you'll probably receive it the same as I. Either way It's a jar (which is a little heavy mind you) with a screw top lid, on one side it has the name of the product and three key words you'd be on the look out for with this particular type of mask which are "Detox, Purify and Refine". On the left side of the jar it goes into more detail about the benefits of the facial mask in a bullet point format:

"Purifying power of charcoal, draws out impurities, helps combat blemishes and breakouts, unclogs deep pores, absorbs environmental toxins, skin feels smooth and refreshed and reveals skins natural glow"

I noticed at the bottom it include little symbols such as the cruelty free symbol, recycle symbol and a symbol i've not seen before on the left. Upon closure inspection it looks like an American Flag so I assume it's to provide you assurance that you're using a product made in the USA!

On the right side of the jar, it includes instructions on how to use the mask and below it a list of ingredients which are as follows:

"Aqua, Bentonite, Glycerin, Charcoal Powder, Dead Sea Mud, Kaolin, Sorbitol, *CO Glycerin, *CO Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavander) Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, *CO Citrus Limon (Lemon) Peel Extract, *CO Camellia Sinensis (Japanese Green Tea) Leaf Extract, *CO Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, *CO Chamomilla Recutita (Chamomile) Flower Extract, *CO Spirulina Maxima (Sea Algae) Extract, *CO Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract, *CO Cucumis Cativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, *CO Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Malus Domestica (Apple) Fruit Cell Culture Extract, Fragrance.
*Certified Organic"

Upon opening the jar it kinda looks like you're looking into a jar of Nutella haha! The first thing you'll notice is that it has quite a strong, distinguishable smell, which I would describe as a cucumber/herb smell. I personally didn't find it too distracting and I only notice it now if I place the jar near my nose, I feel since i've used this product a few times now I may be used to the "smell" so I can no longer smell it! This is something you should be aware of if you're not keen on your products having strong perfumed smells.

The product is filled to the brim so you're not being sold short and the actual consistency of the product itself is quite thick (which is what you want with a good wash off mask), and it spreads quite easily on the skin and adheres really well. I tend to use my fingers to spread the product on my face, however moving forward i'm currently looking for a brush to apply this product on since it'll save me time having to wash the product off my hands! I'd probably recommend you also look for a good face mask applicator for this reason too! (if you don't already have one that is)

When you first spread the charcoal mask on your face, you'll feel a slight cooling tingly feeling (if you've ever used products with mint in, you'll know what I mean) it goes away after about a minute or so however it does leave your face feeling quite cold. It can also be applied to the neck (the neck and back of the hands are the first areas to show signs of ageing!), as well as the face and according to the packaging it's recommended that you leave it on your face for 10-15 minutes (or when you start to feel the product start to dry).

The product does dry fairly quickly I have to admit, probably less than 10 minutes but I assume it would depend how thickly you've applied the mask! When it's dried it'll change colour to a light grey and cracks will form (where you've moved your face) so at this stage it's time to remove the mask. I suggest using luke-warm water to first take the product off, then apply cold water to your face to close your pores and then finish off by patting your face dry with a fluffy towel.

I definitely noticed a difference after I applied toner (to get rid of any remaining residue left from the charcoal mask) and then proceeded to apply my Pixi Rose Oil. My skin was significantly smoother and I could see bits of dead skin being lifted off and removed as I rubbed in the oil, so much so I had to get a tissue to remove the pieces of dead skin. Whether it's facial oil or serum you use after toner, you will notice a different in the texture of your skin after using this facial mask, my skin felt softer, refreshed and definitely detoxed after my first initial use which I was quite surprised at. Initially I didn't expect this mask to do much of anything so the end results were surprising but definitely welcomed!

This product is best suited for those of you that have Oily or Combined/Oily T-Zone like myself since it aims to detox, absorbs environmental toxins and unclogs deep pores. It can also help balance out your skin by drawing out toxins and eliminating sebum, dead skill cells and oil from your skin. I definitely recommend incorporating a charcoal face mask like this into your skincare routine and using it once to twice a week to really see the benefits!
It's also good to see that the first four ingredients (not including Aqua, since that's Latin for water) are considered good for you skin! which are:

Bentonite:
Bentonite is a type of clay which is used as an absorbant in cosmetics. It's absorbent qualities are beneficial for this with oily skin, however used often can be drying.

Glycerin:
Present in near enough all skincare products, Glycerin (also known as Glycerol or Glycerine) is a skin replenishing and restoring ingredient, helping to restore normal skin balance and hydration. It's also one of the many substances that helps the skin maintain a healthy look and feel, working to maintain the skins natural moisture level and defending against skin dryness.

Charcoal Powder:
Charcoal powder is a primary carbon substance formed by charring organic material in the absence of oxygen. Charcoal has unique absorption properties.

Now it's time to list my Pros and Cons based on my personal experience using this product, please find them below!

Pros:

Good Value for Money:
I purchased this product from my local TK Maxx for about £6.99! (€9.99 when I purchased it in Ireland) I understand the price of this product can vary based on where you purchase it, but from where i've seen it being sold online, It is quite affordable compared to other charcoal face masks. Plus I feel that this product is well worth the money based on the results it produces!

Easy to Apply:
Easy to apply on the face via your fingers or a brush and doesn't take long for it to dry to allow you to wash it off. So quite good for those of you that don't fancy waiting around long for your facial masks to dry! easy to wash off (however if you apply Vaseline to your lips like myself after you get out the shower, you find as you're washing off this mask later on it'll cling to the Vaseline. But it easily comes off with toner!) however I do recommend using toner (if you don't already) to make sure all the charcoal has been removed for the skin!

Does What It Says on the Jar:
I didn't really expect anything amazing (since i've used facial masks that haven't really done much of anything) however I was left pleasantly surprised at how refreshed, cleansed, soft and glowy my skin was even after my first use! safe to say it does what It says on the jar!

Cruelty Free:
If you're very particular about whether or not your skincare products are cruelty free, you'll be happy to know that not only is this product made in the USA, it's also cruelty free!

❤

Cons

The Packaging:
The jar itself is quite heavy (mostly likely due to the choice of packaging materials) and is made from glass. It's in some high-priced packaging in my opinion, which is nice ofcourse. However, i'd be a bit concered of dropping or knocking the product over by accident (especially since I apply this product in the bathroom) and it smashing on the floor. Also, since it's bit weighty like I mentioned before...lets just say if you dropped this on your foot, you'd know about it 😂

Strong Fragrance:
As before mentioned, the charcoal mask itself has a strong distinguishable smell which I can only really describe as a "cucumber/herby" scent. It's quite a potent smell but only if the product is placed within close proximity of your nose. Eventually (and quite quickly),  I feel you'll get used to the smell as I don't notice it anymore and I can't smell it when it's been applied to my face. However if you're not really a fan of products with a strong smell, this may not be for you. It's something to take into account, but if you can get over the smell, it's a great mask to use!

Overall, I could only really come up with two main faults for this product, but the Pros definitely outweigh the Cons with this one! This is a product I would very likely repurchase again since my experience using it was a pleasantly surprising one at that. Like I've already mentioned I do recommend it for those of you with Oily and Combined/Oily T-Zone skin, especially because of the many benefits of charcoal in drawing out toxins, sebum and dead skin cells and leaving your skin refreshed and smooth.

❤

Where to Purchase:

If you live here in the UK, pop into your local TK MAXX store as you'll find Royal Essential products are sold here! Mine was purchased here for £6.99 (however i've slept since then so this price may or may not be accurate!)

HomeSpaCollection.com
This product can be purchased from the manufacturer website for $16.99! (£12.23 converted)
